We tried this place last night and loved it. The sushi was fresh and the price was unbeatable. Service was a bit slow but it was busy so very understandable. It’s a tiny local gem and a nice byob. We will definitely be back!

Excellent experience at Makoto! I visited on a Sunday in the early afternoon and it was quiet. The food was fresh and delicious and they have many options. I have seen a more extensive menu but those are very confusing and here it was simpler and easier to choose from. They have a nice mix of music playing in the background and it’s nice to hear it from the establishment own culture. Soups are yummy, salads basic but also yummy. They have some vegan options as well. Just a heads up, on Sunday they do not serve a lunch menu which was kind of disappointing. Overall an excellent new restaurant in the neighborhood.

If you live in the Heights there is no longer any reason to go to Hoboken for sushi. This place is far away one of best sushi places in Hudson County. Excellent menu full of sushi and cooked dishes as well.

This is by far the BEST sushi you can get in the Jersey City/Hoboken area. I walk up the steps from Hoboken at least once a week to enjoy fresh sushi in a beautiful BYOB dining room. The lunch special is the best price in the area and the sushi is unbelievably fresh and melts in your mouth. They also make the best tempura ice cream I have ever tasted, it beats the top spots in NYC. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Great food, very nice atmosphere inside (definitely not just a takeout place, have been here for date night and loved it). Friendly waitress and food came out promptly - made at the sushi bar right in front of us. New neighborhood favorite!

DELICIOUS, fairly priced and so chill for a casual date or quick lunch. AMAZING gyoza too. We are SO happy to have this new place in the neighborhood!! We are facing the fact that we are going to be spending a lot of money here plus, the mural outside is hilarious and makes me smile every time I see it.
